Activities
The Society was formed in 1981 by a group of enthusiasts, for those who are interested in "scale" and "stand off" scale models of launches, boats, merchant ships and sailing vessels. Models presently encompassed by the Society range from the simplest kitset available to sophisticated radio controlled models, which may have taken years to complete.

The Club pool is adjacent to the club house and model railway complex at Petersens Reserve, Waipuna Road, Mt Wellington. (Next to the Waipuna Lodge)

Activities include Exhibitions at Model X in Henderson, The Taupo Model Railway Club's Expo, The Boat show at the ASB Show Grounds, The Panmure Basin Festival Displays held at the club rooms. Once a year visits are made to the Waihi and Cambridge clubs and to Hawera during Labour weekend for an annual regatta.

For club fund raising we have a set of radio controlled model boats that are for hire to the public and school galas

The weekly sailing activities of the club centre on the club pool at the Peterson Reserve. During Public Boats Sailing on Sunday Afternoons, members can sail if they wish. However members are asked to use Radio Frequencies other than those used by the Public Boats.

Membership is open to everyone 14 years of age and over and all levels of experience are catered for.
As part of your membership and to enable the club to keep fees to a minimum we ask members to assist for one or two Sunday afternoons a year with the running of the club boats on the club pool . When the Public Boats are taken to school galas, members are asked to help when one is in their area.

To keep members informed of club activities the club publishes a monthly news letter to which members are invited to contribute articles of a nautical interest.
